Abstract

Antistaphylococcal penicillins and cefazolin remain the primary treatments for infections with methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). The cefazolin inoculum effect (CzIE) causes the cefazolin MIC to be elevated in proportion to the number of bacteria in the inoculum.
