Abstract
Results of experimental and analytical investigation of a human motion problem are presented. Kip-up maneuvers by a human performer are recorded photographically. A three rigid link model is constructed for the performer using Hanavan’s inertia model of a human being. Comparisons of the observed motion with solution of the mathematical model equations are presented. A “minimum-time” performance of the performer is then compared with an approximate analytic solution for the three link model. Differences between the observed motions and the analytical solutions are discussed. Some changes in the model are suggested.
