Abstract

The basic Geneva Mechanism is one of the most widely used intermittent motion mechanisms. The classification of its dynamic characteristics is established in this paper to make feasible, meaningful comparisons with all other available mechanisms for the same task. Further, the coupling in series of two Genevas or another mechanism and a Geneva is considered and recommendations are made in terms of several dynamic criteria. A large collection of reference charts and a tabulation of numerical classification data are provided for comparative design by the engineer.
