Abstract

Various software programs like Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program (WAsP) and WindSim use only a single data source, limiting the information generated to a small area, while it is more interesting to look for the contribution that can be added to the local speed generated at a certain distance. To improve accuracy of the prediction, refining wind maps with data from neighboring masts and using new interpolation methods is proposed in this paper. Thus, to make corrections to the local speed generated at a certain distance, we propose to refine the wind maps produced by numerical simulations of WAsP software, taking into account the data from neighboring masts and optimizing the results by new interpolation methods. This technique is applied to a region of southeastern Algeria, where the wind data were collected from three meteorological stations, namely of Biskra, Guemar, Sidi Mahdi, and three neighboring stations of Tunisia namely Gafsa, Kebili and Nefta. The results shown that depending on the characteristics and the surrounding environment of the measuring mast, the simulated wind speed can vary between 5% and 25%.
