Abstract
Nylon-CF is an important thermoplastic 3D printable material that can be used to develop high-quality functional parts with slight modifications in low-cost machines like material extrusion (MEX) technology. This paper investigates the tensile behavior of Nylon-CF samples produced by material extrusion. The influence of seven process parameters is studied on response characteristics. The Taguchi design is used to investigate the effect of process parameters on Young’s modulus and yield strength of specimens fabricated as per ASTM D-638. A two-level fractional factorial design supplements the L27 design results. The results show that the layer height, infill pattern, density, and raster angle significantly affect the tensile behavior. The apparent Young’s modulus is also significantly affected by the interaction between layer height, infill pattern, and infill density.
