Abstract
Diseases of periapical tissues have a high incidence and prevalence among all dental nosologies, which are the reason for the treatment of the population in medical centers of dental profile. Due to the lack of information on the prevalence of destructive forms of apical periodontitis, it becomes difficult to form tactics for the prevention of this pathology. The aim of the study was to study the prevalence of destructive forms of apical periodontitis in patients applying to the Medical Center for Diagnosis and Prevention "Commonwealth" of Yaroslavl. In the conditions of the dental department of the multidisciplinary medical center of Yaroslavl, a retrospective analysis of 542 dental outpatient records of patients with periapical tissue diseases for 2017-2021 was conducted and analyzed. Based on the data obtained, the following statistical indicators were calculated: the gender-age composition of patients with periapical tissue disease, the number of teeth with destructive forms of apical periodontitis, the severity of periodontal pathology and prevalence for specific annual indicators and age groups. At the time of the retrospective analysis, the prevalence of patients with chronic apical periodontitis was 63%, with a periapical abscess with a cavity – 19%, with a periapical abscess without a cavity – 11%, with a root cyst – 7%. Thus, diseases of the periapical tissues, in their chronic course, remain an urgent and often underestimated problem.
