Abstract
Introduction. Currently, urolithiasis in children is a common disease. Many countries have begun to actively use medical expulsive therapy for urolithiasis in children. The article presents a modern view on the use of this method of treatment.
The purpose of the work is to highlight the principles and effectiveness of the use of medical expulsive therapy, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of prescribing alpha-1-blockers over other types of drugs for urolithiasis in children based on a systematic review of modern literature for the period from 2004 to 2023.
Material and methods. A systematic review was conducted in the Cochrane, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus databases for the period from 2004 to 2023. Keywords were used for the search: urolithiasis, urolithiasis, medical expulsive therapy. The review includes 32 full-text articles.
Results. Evaluating the results of the use of medical expulsive therapy, for urolithiasis in children, it was noted that alpha-1-blockers can significantly stone expulsion rate and shorter expulsion time. Side effects when using this method are insignificant. They include: headache, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension or nasal congestion.
Conclusion. The expediency of using medical expulsive therapy is due to the high efficiency and safety of alpha-1-blockers in urolithiasis in children. In Russia, the use of adrenergic receptor blockers for medical expulsive therapy in children with urolithiasis is currently not allowed.
