Abstract

Abstract Does the rate of environmental deterioration influence diversity and fitness in a population? Zhou and Zhang 2024 found that, compared with gradual stress, abrupt stress led to a larger decrease in fitness and diversity in the bacterium, Pseudomonas fluorescens. These findings help explain the relationship between species evolution and antimicrobial resistance.
