Abstract
Abstract
Conventional methods for measuring corrosion behavior by potentiostatic polarization techniques failed to yield complete anodic curves for some commercial nickel alloys that passivate in nonoxidizing test media. (Cathodic curves for these alloy-media systems contained inflections suggesting the existence of the S-shaped anodic curve.) Modification of potentiostatic techniques, including a drastic increase in potential-scan rate, enabled primary passive potentials and anodic critical-current densities to be measured before the specimen reached a steady state.
