Abstract

The large, disordered kinetochore protein KNL1/Spc105 is a key regulator of the SAC. Bub3 binding to divergent repeats in fly Spc105 is promoted by Aurora B kinase while Spc105’s N-terminus has MT- and PP1-binding activities that contribute to SAC satisfaction. Optogenetic oligomerization of Spc105 triggers simultaneous binding to MTs and PP1.
