Abstract

It is shown that the Drosophila slp1 gene is a direct target of the Runt transcription factor. Interestingly, binding sites for Runt important for repression, but less so for activation by the slp1 DESE enhancer, clearly contribute to DESE-dependent activation in a composite reporter gene construct also containing the slp1 PESE enhancer.
