Abstract
In the present study the acoustic field around rigid wedges is investigated. The acoustic field consists of diffraction contributions (from the edge) and of geometrical acoustics contributions (the incident signal and signals reflected on the wedge faces). A new depiction, called the polarity plot, is proposed that depicts the polarity of the diffracted impulse response, as well as the number of the geometrical acoustics contributions around a given wedge. Based on the observed patterns of the polarity plots, a set of measurements around a wedge is described which (if experimentally feasible) could be used in order to determine the wedge angle.
