Abstract
The spectrum of molecular oxygen has been studied in the energy-loss range 6.8–21 eV by means of a high-resolution electron energy-loss spectrometer using 25-keV primary electrons. The resulting energy-loss spectrum has been compared with the uv absorption spectrum. In contrast to the results for nitrogen, fair agreement is stated disregarding some deviations in the Schumann–Runge region. At high energy (E > 17 eV) the resolution in the energy-loss spectrum exceeds that of the absorption spectrum. Some bands could be grouped new.
