EVALUATION OF STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS THAT CAUSE HEAT LOSS IN BUILDINGS WITH THERMAL CAMERA IMAGING TECHNIQUE

Abstract

The significant amount of energy used in Turkey is for heating purposes. It is possible to use energy consumption effectively and efficiently by reducing the heat losses in buildings during the winter months. Thermal insulation is the most important method used to reduce heat losses in buildings. In addition, the suitability and efficiency of the thermal insulation applied in the building should be investigated. In this study, Bitlis Eren University Faculty of Arts and Sciences service building located in Rahva campus of Bitlis Province was chosen as the main study area. The theoretical fuel consumption amount to be used for heating the building was determined and compared with the actual consumption value. In addition, during the heating season, thermal and insulation efficiency was evaluated by taking images of the building from different facades with a thermal camera. As a result of the calculations; It has been determined that the heat energy requirement per unit usage area of the building is above the value specified in the TS 825 standard, and the actual fuel consumption used for heating purposes is higher than the theoretical fuel consumption. As a result of the examination of the building with a thermal camera, it was determined that the insulation was not applied well at the junction of the window frames with the wall and on some exterior walls.
