Abstract

Upon blue ∼445 nm excitation, two-photon absorption upconversion occurs in Ho3+/Gd3+ co-doping for UVB emission. The UVB-emitting levels of Gd3+ 6Pj are sensitive to temperature, and can work as fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) thermometry.
