A Simple Method to Improve the Optical Performance of Augmented Reality Head-Up Display by Depositing Pd Doped ZnO Films

Abstract

By depositing Pd doped ZnO films on glass substrates by rf sputtering, the conductivity of the glass is enhanced, and thereby the optical performance of augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) based on these substrates are improved. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are employed to analyze the structure, component and the morphology of the ZnO films. A minimum resistivity of 3.8*10E-4 Ωcm is obtained from the film grown at the O2/Ar ratio of 1/10. Compared to the absence of film, the optical performance of the AR-HUD is significantly improved in high humidity environments, such as definition and adhesion.
