A case of occlusal reconstruction with autotransplantation of third molar after surgery of odontogenic keratocyst in the mandible

Abstract

AbstractBackgroundOdontogenic keratocyst (OKC) has high recurrence rate. We sometimes extract the teeth in contact with the lesion to prevent recurrence.Case presentationA 14‐year‐old male was referred to our hospital by his family dentist for the evaluation of a posterior left mandible lesion. We extracted the mandibular left second and third molar and performed enucleation and curettage of the OKC. After the operation, we performed intertemporal autotransplantation.ConclusionThe postoperative course has been good with no mobility and less than 3 mm periodontal pockets of the donor and with no recurrence of OKC.
