Abstract
AbstractComparisons between series of cancer cases are difficult in the absence of population data; to facilitate such comparisons the use of an age‐standardized cancer ratio (ASCAR) is proposed. When gross differences appear between crude ratios, the use of the age‐corrected ratio enables a distinction to be made between a difference due to age effect and one that is potentially significant.
