Abstract
AbstractThe catalytic systems [W(CO)3Cp]2/ RnSnX4‐n activated by iBuAICI2 or AICI3 / O2 show high conversion and good selectivity for the metathesis of 2‐pentene. When the system is activated by iBuAICI2, both % conversion and selectivity are optimized with a W/Sn/AI/O2 ratio of 1/1/10/10. For the AICI3‐systems the optimal W/Sn/AI/O2 ratio seems to be 1/1/10/5.The influence of the coprecursor, RnSnX4‐n, is based on the modulation of the alkyl/halogen balance and Lewis‐acidity of the reaction mixture. The stereoselectivity data of all studied catalytic systems, compare well with those of totally different homogeneous catalytic tungsten systems.
