An Efficient Synthesis of 1,5‐Benzodiazepine Derivatives by Lanthanide Trichloride‐catalyzed Condensation of o‐Phenylenediamine with α,β‐Unsaturated Ketone under Mild Conditions

Abstract

AbstractThe condensation of o‐phenylenediamine with various α,β‐unsaturated ketones was efficiently catalyzed by lanthanide trichloride and a variety of 1,5‐benzodiazepines were synthesized in moderate to high yields under mild conditions. The reactions catalyzed by ytterbium trichloride were investigated emphatically.
