Using Stem Cells to Treat Diabetes-Induced Infertility

Abstract

Abstract: Diabetes is one of the main causes of infertility, which impacts the quality of life of couples. These reproductive complications are important issues for all clinicians. The strategies for the treatment of diabetes-induced infertility are limited with the high cost and unsatisfied results. Due to the multi-directional differentiation potential and self-renewal ability of stem cells, these cells have emerged as attractive therapeutic agents in many diseases, including diabetes mellitus. We reviewed the current knowledge on the best available evidence regarding the role of stem cell transplantation in reproductive complications of diabetes.
