A Study of Shrink-Fitted Assemblies Loaded in Torsion with Special Reference to Damping Capacity

Abstract

Damping in shrink-fitted assemblies has been investigated and found to be of considerable practical importance. It has been possible to give this damping a fundamental explanation related to elastic deflections and conditions of the mating surfaces of the assemblies. Thus, the study of damping also yielded information about other characteristics, such as differential slip and stiffness.
