Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the assessment and analysis of motor dysfunction in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus using computer-assisted stabilometry. The purpose of this publication is to present the first experience of using computer stabilography in assessing motor function over time in the treatment of patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH). A non-randomized prospective observational study of the state of balance and gait in patients with iNPH is being conducted on the basis of the Department and Clinic of Neurosurgery of the Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University and the Hospital for War Veterans using the ST-150 computer stabilography system. To date, the study has included 9 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of iNPH who underwent CS at the stages before / after the tap test and after CSF shunt surgery. In all 9 cases, we received a positive result from the operation in the form of improved locomotor function. Computer-assisted stabilometry makes it possible to objectively assess motor function disorders in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus in the preoperative period, optimize diagnostics when selecting patients for surgery and conducting invasive research methods, as well as significantly improve the assessment of the effectiveness of surgical treatment after surgery due to objective quantitative assessment of motor disorders over time.
