Abstract
SummaryThe development of the stress intensification factor (KIC) and the fracture strength (σF) have been determined for a range of composite products. Changes in KIC resulting from storage are equated to the progression of polymerization and the loss or gain of plasticizer. The inherent flaw size, relating toughness to strength, varies in a manner which is more consistent with a matrix dependence than upon any quantifiable filler parameter.
