Abstract

A 15-year-old male presented with swelling and redness in the right eye of 1-month duration. The patient was a known case of aplastic anemia. Clinical examination revealed bilateral retinal hemorrhages and scleral necrosis in the right eye. The patient was treated with topical fortified Vancomycin and lubricating eye drops and received blood transfusion. There was an improvement in ocular condition following the initiation of therapy. Scleral necrosis is a rare but potentially blinding complication in patients with aplastic anemia. Ophthalmologists should be aware of this complication and follow-up such patients closely.
