Abstract

Background: Vocal cord/fold lesions include growths such as polyps, nodules, and cysts, which are mostly benign in nature with various shapes, vascularity, and histological characteristics. Safe management of such cases depends on planning the anesthesia accordingly to the availability of resources and coordination with the surgeon. Description: We present a 55-year-old female, 110 kg, hypertensive on medication, presented to the ear, nose, and throat outpatient department with a history of progressive dyspnea and dysphonia for 2 years, a case of right vocal polyp posted for polypectomy. Intervention: The various safety measures involve an attempt to visualize the vocal cords throughout the intubation, avoidance of forceful intubation, and use of alternative devices to secure the airway. Lesson Learnt: It is thus advised to have a thorough preanesthetic assessment as well as photo documentation of the lesion preoperatively.
