Abstract
Symmetric expressions for fission and neutron (or other particle) emission widths rr, rn etc. are erived by applying uniformly the canonical version of the transition-state method to both cases. The resulting expression for the ratio I'o/ rc etc. is somewhat different from conventional formulae.
