Abstract
AbstractAn inerter‐based dynamic vibration absorber (IDVA) is proposed and applied to suppress the vibration of a plate. The dynamic model of a thin rectangular plate attached with an IDVA is established and the frequency response function of the transverse displacement of the plate is derived through the classical vibration theory and the analysis in the domain. In addition, the equation for frequency ratios of fixed points is obtained, and the condition for the existence of four fixed points is found by investigating the problem of solving quartic equations. Moreover, the extended fixed‐point method is employed to analytically obtain the optimal parameters of the IDVA attached to a plate, the expressions of the optimal damping ratio and other dimensionless qualities are presented.
