Abstract
This chapter explores the nuanced perspective of positive psychology within the cultural context of India. Positive psychology, an evolving field focusing on human well-being and flourishing, has gained prominence globally. However, it's application and significance within the Indian context remains relatively unexplored. By examining indigenous concepts such as happiness and well-being, the chapter unveils how positive psychology aligns with and diverges from traditional Indian philosophies and practices. The findings shed light on the ways in which positive psychology is embraced, adapted, and critiqued by the diverse population of India, considering factors like social structures, spirituality, and economic conditions. This chapter contributes to the broader discourse on positive psychology by highlighting the importance of cultural context in shaping its meaning and practices, and offers insights that could inform interventions tailored to the Indian context while also enriching the global discourse on human flourishing.
