Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has significantly triggered a domino effect across the economic sector, particularly impacting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This disruption has profoundly affected the foodservice industry and its supply chain. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) on the impact of crises on food supply chains faced by micro-food businesses. The review followed a rigorous five-step methodology guided by a pre-defined protocol, which included formulating research questions, developing systematic search strategies, and applying inclusion/exclusion criteria across databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Emerald. The paper identifies four major impacts of food supply disruptions caused by crises: delivery delays, labor shortages, raw material scarcity, and price fluctuations. However, further extensive research is recommended to gain a more holistic understanding of how micro-food businesses navigate food supply disruptions in the context of current and future economic crises.
