Abstract
In environmental science, sustainable wastewater treatment is vital. Green nanoparticles have emerged as key tools, aligning with green chemistry and sustainable development. This chapter explores their role in advancing these processes, starting with eco-friendly synthesis methods like plant extract-mediated and biopolymer-based approaches, highlighting benefits such as reduced environmental impact, biocompatibility, and scalability. The chapter examines green nanoparticles' applications in wastewater treatment, emphasizing their superior pollutant adsorption, catalytic efficiency in advanced oxidation processes, and enhancement of membrane technologies for improved selectivity and antifouling properties. It underscores the environmental sustainability of these nanoparticles, focusing on their biodegradability, energy-efficient synthesis, and potential for reuse, while also addressing challenges like stability, toxicity, and regulatory issues, and exploring future technological advancements and prospects.
