Abstract
Angiogenesis is a major common factor for regeneration and cancer biology. Many chemical compounds used for anti-angiogenesis activity are reported, but notably the active chemical compounds of plants give an equal benefit with less side effects than chemical compounds. The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) are one of the angiogenesis markers, many derivatives are reported for has VEGF and PDGF inhibitory effects. Various anti-angiogenic agents have developed by the technological advances for possible antiangiogenic therapy, example in drug industry, lichen, and their secondary metabolites such as usnic acid, barbatolic acid, vulpinic acid, olivetoric acid, emodin, secalonic acid D, and parietin. Notably, the positive effects of conventional chemotherapy can be reinforced by the metronomic model of traditional chemotherapy, because the herbal compounds effective reactivity with angiogenesis of cancer. In this chapter, the authors have covered the advancements and pharmaceutical benefits of natural products towards Anti-angiogenic activity.
