Abstract
In an era where environmental issues have become a major concern and most of the sectors are focusing on sustainability, the tourism industry, which is a significant contributor to a country's economic development, is facing criticism. This chapter deals with power generation using renewable energy for sustainability in tourist hotels and resorts. It focuses on the power that can be produced by utilizing the natural resources available in a particular area, i.e., renewable energy, and supplying that power to the nearby hotels and resorts. Renewable energy is often called green energy because it is obtained from nature and is replenished within a short period of time. The hotels and resorts there are concerned in making it a carbon neutral village. So a power plant can be developed in Kochi, which is approximately 48 km away from the village, using HOMER pro software taking wind and solar energy as the primary sources for generation of electricity which can be supplied there through grid to the resorts and hotels.
