Abstract
In this chapter, the author highlights how English language education (ELE) has become a crucial aspect of education systems worldwide. As globalization continues to impact cultural interactions and linguistic diversity, the importance of cultural competence in ELE has grown significantly. This chapter explores the policy implications and strategies necessary to address the intersection of globalization, cultural competence, and ELE 5.0. It examines existing policies, identifies challenges, and proposes strategies to enhance cultural competence in ELE, focusing on equitable access, inclusive practices, and effective teacher training.
