Abstract
Higher education across the globe has undergone a major transformation due to a variety of compulsions, and India is not an exception. In the last two decades, the scenario of Indian higher education has revamped significantly, and all the credit goes to rapid economic growth, rising incomes, and rising demographic dividend. In the current scenario, a significant shift towards massification of higher education has increased the access to higher education but raises significant issues under the domain of quality and equity. Within this context, the purpose of the chapter is to review the shift which has happened in the Indian higher education pertinently in the last decade and to raise the important concerns which are highly relevant for the policy makers in order to ensure the inclusive growth of Indian higher education and to position India at the global map.
