Abstract
In the modern age, demand is increasing to explore materials engineering, particularly techniques for altering the microstructure of near-surface layers, due to the double demands of reducing weight and ensuring functional properties for the completed product. This chapter involves the synthesis and investigation of composite using FSP. The pinless friction stir tool was used to do the friction stir processing of aluminum 6061 alloys. It was adopted to improve the surface microstructure of the alloy. Increasing the rotating speed of the tool at 1200 rpm, and keeping the speed tool moving at 25 mm/min., imparted a lot of effect on corrosion resistance, mechanical characteristics, and surface microstructure. The microstructural results showed that the treated samples microhardness had significantly improved and that there had been a notable decrease in grain size. Using electrochemical techniques, the corrosion behavior of the basic sample and the treated sample was assessed.
