Abstract
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects people diagnosed with it and their families in many ways. The purpose of this study was to evaluate possible determinants of parent wellbeing and to examine the influence of having a child diagnosed with ADHD on the social and emotional well-being of parents. The aim of the present study was also to add to the existing literature information about intervention programs that have implemented to parents of children with ADHD and examine their effectiveness on various dimensions related to parental well-being and psychological well-being. These programs, which are specially designed for the training of parents of children with ADHD, are mainly based on the strengthening of mindfulness, self-care, guidance in coping strategies and techniques for managing children's challenging behaviours, and support and counseling of parents. The results obtained are encouraging regarding the effectiveness of these programs.
