Abstract
Industry 5.0 represents a significant shift, combining human creativity with advanced technologies to achieve sustainable and human-centered industrial practices. Universities play a critical role in this transformation by encouraging innovation, interdisciplinary research, and collaboration with industry, all while incorporating sustainability into their operations. This chapter investigates how universities advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by implementing initiatives such as green campuses, smart technologies, and ISO standards that promote sustainable practices. It focuses on current sustainability practices in universities worldwide, such as renewable energy adoption, waste reduction, and project-based learning. Key challenges such as financial constraints, cultural resistance, and skill gaps are addressed through solutions such as public-private partnerships, green bonds, and adaptive curricula. The chapter concludes with policy recommendations for incentivizing sustainable infrastructure, developing global research networks, and implementing sustainability KPIs.
