Abstract
Most mechanical devices contain gears as one of their basic component. Spur gears are a type of gear that is often used to transfer power between two parallel shafts. Spur gears have a parallel gear cut to the shaft axis. The design of gear has a direct impact on the efficiency of the transmission. As a result, the significance of proper gear design and testing is of the highest importance in modern machines. Simulation has recently gained popularity as a cost-effective alternative to laboratory testing. Explicit Dynamic, Static Structural and Modal Analysis performed on Spur Gear in this project to illustrate the gear's reaction to different boundary conditions. As a simulation tool, ANSYS workbench is utilized.
