Abstract
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different machining processes on mechanical properties of SiC fiber reinforced SiC matrix (SiC/SiC) composites. SiC/SiC composites were prepared by polymer impregnation pyrolysis (PIP) progress with polycarbosilane (PCS) as impregnant and SiC fiber as reinforcement. The tensile strength at room temperature and high temperature of the 2.5D braided composites were measured and analyzed after grinding process and laser process. It was found that the tensile strength of the composites with laser cutting was higher than that with grinding cutting, especially at high temperature. While the tensile strength of the composites with laser surface machining was lower than that with grinding surface machining.
