Abstract

Abstract The article presents the results of studies of the gas content and gas-dynamic characteristics of the free gas contained in the salt rocks of the IV ℃ p horizon of the Starobin deposit of potash salts. The research was carried out in the workings of the Petrikovsky ore enrichment plant. The IV-p horizon was discovered for the first time and data on the content of free gas in the rocks have not existed until now. Given that mining operations in other potash horizons and areas of the field are regularly accompanied by various gas-dynamic phenomena, all commissioned horizons and new areas should be examined for the content of free gas in the rocks and at the rock contacts. For the research, mine instrumental observations were used according to the methodology developed at the Mining Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The obtained data serve as the basis for the development of recommendations for the safe conduct of mining operations in the rocks of the IV – p horizon.
